Practice Areas > Litigation

The handling of trials and trial-related matters has always been an important part of the firm's practice. Even with increasing specialization within the legal profession, the skills of trial lawyers in negotiations and the trial of cases are increasingly important. Our trial practice requires participation by lawyers who practice in other areas, as well as those who specialize in the trial work. A basic tenet of our trial practice is that a well-trained trial lawyer can and should handle a wide variety of cases.

The firm’s practice involves trials and appeals in all state and federal courts and before administrative tribunals and boards. The firm’s members are admitted to practice in all state courts in Georgia, as well as Federal District Courts for the Northern, Middle and Southern Districts of Georgia. The firm also has members admitted to practice in the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth and Eleventh Circuits, and the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals in Washington, D.C., the United States Tax Court, Court of Claims and Bankruptcy Court, as well as the U.S. Virgin Islands and the U.S. District Court, District of the Virgin Islands.

Our firm's docket contains many cases in which we are representing our regular clients, insurance companies, and others in business, contract and personal injury cases. Business, contract and commercial lawsuits represent a significant portion of our trial case load, and recent cases have been undertaken for a wide variety of clients, including banks, insurance companies, publicly and privately held corporations, real estate companies and individuals. The firm offers representation to plaintiffs in personal injury and business tort actions, and represents both residential and commercial landlords in dispossessory and small claims actions. The firm has begun assisting individual and organizational plaintiffs in environmental litigation involving federal and state statutes, with an initial focus on water and wetlands issues.
