General Business: The firm’s general business practice is transactional in nature, and also involves the general representation of corporations and other business organizations. The transactional nature of our practice encompasses mergers and acquisitions, business formations and corporate and business financing. The general representation side of our corporate practice consists of representing our clients in their day-to-day business affairs with customers and creditors, employees and shareholders, governments and other parties.
Foundations (Public and Private): The firm’s expertise in charitable foundations law has permitted the firm to provide sophisticated tax advice and general counsel services to numerous charitable organizations and has led to national recognition of the firm’s foundation practice. Our lawyers are well versed in the issues confronting public and private foundations and charities, including issues relating to the structure, jurisdiction, tax status, day-to-day management and governmental affairs of public and private charities and foundations.
Environmental and Conservation: Davis, Pickren & Seydel, LLP is proud of its expertise in global environmental and conservation efforts, particularly in the areas of land conservation and species preservation. Our firm has specialized training in drafting and implementing conservation easements, and negotiated and drafted the first Forest Legacy Conservation Easement sold in Georgia. Davis, Pickren & Seydel, LLP also drafted a Model Conservation Easement for use by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. Davis, Pickren & Seydel, LLP has negotiated and prepared conservation easements on behalf of major private landowners and nonprofit organizations for use in Georgia, Florida, Montana and New Mexico.
Davis, Pickren & Seydel, LLP also advises clients on a broad range of licensing, permitting and compliance issues involving statutory and regulatory requirements governing land and resource use, such as the Clean Water Act and Clean Air Act. The firm assists its real estate clients in evaluating environmental risks and conditions of property being sold, held or acquired.
International: Davis, Pickren & Seydel, LLP’s capability in the international area has permitted the firm to handle sophisticated international transactions of various types, including general export/import problems, structuring and documenting distribution networks in the EEC, negotiating licensing agreements and representing foreign investors in U.S. businesses.
